About us
A small, family-run nursery in Highfield
Nobody gets through the first five years on their own. That is roughly the whole job description here.
Rainbow Rays is a private, family-run day nursery in Highfield, Sheffield. We are dedicated to giving children the best possible opportunity to play, discover, learn and grow, and our overriding aim is to provide the highest standard of childcare and early education in a secure and caring environment.
Family run, Highfield
Rainbow Rays childcare respects every child as an individual. Our service is flexible and adapts to a family’s needs, beliefs, dietary requirements and preferences, rather than expecting the family to adapt to us.
All of our staff are enhanced DBS checked and hold the qualifications and experience the job needs. We work to Ofsted’s staff to child ratios. We only employ people who understand that the way they talk, encourage and praise shapes how a child sees themselves.
We believe in talking to each other properly, and we are proud of our partnership with parents. Being a small family-run nursery means we get to give you feedback every single day, and it goes both ways. Happy children are confident learners, and they are happy when they feel safe and cared for.

Inclusive
Every child is treated as an individual. We adapt to your family’s needs, beliefs and dietary requirements, not the other way round.
Responsible
Enhanced DBS checks, Ofsted ratios and qualified staff. The non-negotiables, done properly and without being asked.
Respectful
We value the cultural practices and beliefs of every family who uses us, and we ask rather than assume.
Collaborative
Partnership with parents is not a slogan here. You hear from us daily, and we listen back.

Come and have a look round
The only way to know whether a nursery is right is to stand in it. Pop in, meet the team, and see what the rooms are like on an ordinary morning.
